RATCH, C-ATCH Roper AX, AXJ, RATI, TN-N, TG-N, NJC, NAC, THD, TDIA, CGC
Roper is a pit bull I rescued as a puppy. She was the puppy you are not suppose to pick. Timid and shy, hiding in the back of the crate the first time I saw her at 4 weeks old. I returned with a different puppy in mind a couple weeks later to bring it home. I tried several times to engage the other puppy with no avail. As I sat there trying to call the puppy over I noticed Roper sitting next to me staring intently at me. I moved several times but she followed and sat quietly staring into my eyes. She seemed to be pleading with me. I picked her up and said " Do you want to go home with me? Let's go away from these guys and if I put you down, walk away and call you and if you come to me, I will take you home." Well, she didn't hesitate...she came running!
I started Roper in obedience class at 12 weeks old and that was the stepping stone for her agility career and therapy dog certification. Roper earned her C-ATCH in CPE and participated in several CPE National events. She also earned her AX and AXJ in AKC agility before I retired her from that sport.
Roper worked with me as a Therapy dog at the Cancer Center. She kept all the patients smiling and stress free. The Star Banner did a nice article on her work with the patients. Here is the link: http://www.ocala.com/article/2011110729954Roper earned her TDI and AKC Therapy dog title.
When I got into Barn Hunt, Roper took to hunting rats with accuracy. She was not fast but she was honest. She did the sport for me not for the love of the game. Roper earned her RATCH in Lakeland and she was officially retired from everything but my heart.
This pit bull with a huge heart is now my constant sidekick.
